Dr. John Mitchell, a cardiologist, will present basic information on cardiac impairments for representatives, while focusing on 4.02 (Chronic Heart Failure), 4.04 (Ischemic Heart Disease) and 4.12 (Peripheral Arterial Disease), explaining the assessment in the context of the listings while addressing the functional impairments of the cardiac issues. Deborah Mitchell, a registered nurse and attorney, will discuss the impairments in the context of preparation for hearings.

Deborah Grossman Mitchell – as a registered nurse and attorney, she has dedicated her law practice to assisting Veterans and Civilians with Disabilities to obtain deserved benefits through the VA and/or Social Security. She is a member of multiple national organizations including NOSSCR, NADR and NOVA. Deborah was premiered by The National Advocates Top 100 Lawyers in 2015, 2016 and 2017. She was honored with A Client Distinction Award for Excellence in 2015. She has hosted a local radio and television show ‘Legally Speaking” for many years to promote community legal education. She is passionately proactive in her community, volunteering her time and resources to numerous civic and charitable organizations.
John Mitchell – Dr. Mitchell completed his undergraduate education at Birmingham Southern and his medical degree at the University of Alabama. Dr. Mitchell is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Cardiology. He is an Associate of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Cardiology. He is certified in both Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Dr. Mitchell was recruited to Opelika, AL in 1985 where he opened a Heart Catherization Lab and within a year the program had grown extensively requiring the recruitment of Heart Surgeons to perform Open Heart Surgery or Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts at East Alabama Medical Center.
