Presenters will discuss the current understanding of the medical problems and disabilities caused by Covid-19. Discussion will focus on the common long-term symptoms and serious complications from Covid-19 including our current understanding of the effect of the different organ systems. The emerging picture of Chronic Covid-19 symptoms, the “Long Haulers”, will be discussed with detail regarding the severe disabling symptoms that can last for several months both after severe initial disease and mild or even unrecognized initial infection. Presents will also discuss what to look for in medical records and hot wo successfully present a Social Security disability case using the Listing of Impairments, key Social Security Rulings, and physician opinions to win a long-term Covid-19 case.

Brian Bronson - is an associate of Quartrini, Rafferty & Galloway and concentrates his practice in the areas of Social Security Disability, ERISA, Disability Insurance (Long-Term and Short-Term Disability Claims), Veterans disability, and criminal defense. Mr. Bronson received his B.S. from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania in 1999, where he majored in Business Administration, and his law degree from the Duquesne University School of Law (Cum Laude) in 2002. Mr. Bronson is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, the Federal District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Bronson is a member of the Westmoreland County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR), and is active in the Ned J. Nakles American Inn of Court. Mr. Bronson has attended the American Conference Institute’s National Forum on Litigating Disability Insurance Claims and the annual NOSSCR national conventions. Mr. Bronson also serves on the Board of Directors of Laurel Legal Services, Inc., an organization that provides free civil representation to low income citizens. Mr. Bronson is also a part of Operation Standby, which assists the JAG Corps in providing representation to Armed Services personnel.
Dr. Patrick Carone - is a physiatrist in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Physiatrists are physicians who specialize in helping patients with disabilities. Their focus is rehabilitation, restoration of function and a return to a high quality of life. Patients may have muscle, bone, soft tissue or nervous system injuries. He works in Mount Pleasant, PA and 5 other locations and specializes in Anesthesiology, Pain Management, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. Dr. Carone is affiliated with Plainview Hospital, Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Jefferson Hospital and Indiana Regional Medical Center. He received his medical degree from University of Virginia School of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years.
Patricia McCabe – is the owner of a small firm in Van Nuys, CA, where she represents Claimants’ at all levels and in the United States Supreme Court. She also represents individuals in insurance litigation involving ERISA claims and individual disability insurance claims. Ms. McCabe has represented the 9th Circuit on the NOSSCR board and serves as a member at large. She received her Juris Doctorate from Franklin Pierce Law Center, New Hampshire.
Kathleen A. Melez - is an attorney and physician practicing both law and medicine in Los Angeles. She received her Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School Los Angeles, her MD cum laude degree from the University of Debrecen, Hungary, residency and fellowship training from Georgetown University and UCLA. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics. Dr. Melez is admitted to practice law in California and the District of Columbia. She represents SSDI and SSI claimants at all levels and in the United States District Court and has worked as a medical expert in litigation. She is licensed as a medical expert for the Medical Board of California. Dr. Melez also worked for the Boston Social security office for six months as a chart reviewer in the Quality Control unit.
