The Final Countdown: Living or Dying with the Five-Day Rule


Detailed presentation of 20 C.F.R 404.935 and 416.1435; the “five-day evidence rule” including history, case law, practical tips, sanctions and tips on compliance.  This presentation will discuss how this rule interacts with 20 C.F.R. 404.936(f) and 416.1436(f), good cause to re-schedule/continue hearings and the HALLEX.

Ivan Katz, Attorney

Ivan Katz –  practices law in New Haven, Connecticut.  He was awarded his B.A. from the Georgetown University College of Arts & Sciences and his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.  Since 1985 he has been a sole practitioner and in recent years his practice has been devoted to representing adults in Social Security disability claims.  He actively practices before the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and before the ODAR offices in New Haven and Hartford, Connecticut.  He serves on the Executive Committee of the Disability Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.  Mr. Katz has presented at past NOSSCR conferences.
